SudokuPlay
Getting Started
SudokuPlay opens in the Game Selection window. Tap one of the list of games to play it. The game name is in the Name column and the difficulty level is in the “Level” column. Level 1 is easiest, level 10 is the most difficult. The Solution button in the bottom left displays the solution (press Play top button to resume playing).
The game is presented in Manual mode, a 9x9 grid of green and grey squares. Swiping right brings up the blue and grey squares of Auto mode. Swiping left from Manual brings up the orange and grey squares of Markup. See details in the Help page of the SudokuNavigator web site. Stay in Manual mode for now.
To add possibles to an empty cell, tap it. Tap again inside the text box to bring up the keyboard. Enter the digits you have determined are possibles for the cell. You can enter the possibles in any order (the app will sort them). When finished, tap outside of the text box to close it.
A cell is solved when it is down to one possible (displayed using the large font).
To edit the current possibles for a cell, tap the cell and the text box displays the possibles. To replace all possibles press the circled-x on the right to erase the current contents, then type in the replacement possibles. To update the possibles in place, the second tap, after the text box is displayed shows the cursor. To delete specific possibles, the cursor can be moved by holding a finger down on it till a floating window appears and moving the cursor to the possibles being deleted.
If you want to undo the last change made to a cell, press the Save upper button and select Undo Last Change.
If two solved cells with the same single digit are both in the same row, column or square, a conflict occurs. The app will colour the two cells red, green or blue. Fix the conflict before continuing.
If you make mistakes and the app determines that there are no possibles for a certain cell, that cell is coloured red and a message is displayed. You can back up using Undo and determine where you went wrong or try to correct thing manually.
If all cells are completed with no conflicts, you have solved the game. A message will ask if you want to restore the game to its original state or delete it. If you don’t delete the game press the Done upper button to exit.
